Locker Room

Much of our faith development in churches involves talking, strategizing, developing a plan. We talk alot about what God wants us to do. Like sitting in a locker room, but never playing the game. Most of the time we don’t even make it to practice.

Spiritual disciplines are like practice. We wouldn’t expect a very good team if all they did was talk about plays and proper technique. There must be practice combined with truth.

Disciplines themselves are not the game. Just as a team practices in order to play the game well. Disciplines enable us to live life well.  To have the freedom to live, love our enemies, give to those in need, and serve freely. Celebrate with those who are advanced ahead of us.
